"There's not much doubt in any of our minds that no complete idea springs fully formed from our brow,
needing only a handshake and a signature on the contract to send it off into the world to make twenty-five billion dollars.
The germ of the idea grows slowly..." - Walt Kelly

Musings on antiquity

We have agreed to live
in a world built on the dead,
but how many must we pile

before we no longer hear
the voices of a bygone age?
How deep must our history

dive before the bends prevent it
from ever resurfacing? How long
is the story we'll need to tell

to our grandchildren, and their
grandchildren, before they forget
how the ancient tale began?
