About

yes, this is me in a ridiculously expensive top hat.
seriously, it was like $178.

First of all, let me thank you with a laurel and a hearty handshake for stopping by The Germ of the Idea.  I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit.  Hopefully you'll stay a while, unless there's something awesome on TV, in which case why are you still here?

Anyway, let me introduce myself.  My name is Paul Mullin.  I am the proud recipient of a bachelor's in journalism from Rider University and am currently employed at a major public relations firm in NYC (yes, I sold out).  I am also the editor of a fantastic little flash-fiction blog called 50 to 1, which you should definitely check out.

Now you might wonder: "If this joker says he is a journalist by trade, then what is he doing with a creative writing slash poetry blog?"  That would be an excellent thing to ponder.  Truth is, I have roots in all three genres, and just happened to decide that journalism would be my career of choice.  Still waiting to see if that was a good decision or not.  Will keep you posted (update: initial review says no, that was not a good decision at all).

So I will try and post something every couple of days (or at the very least, once a week) and I hope you will read, comment on and enjoy what is here.  Thanks!
